So it was time to start sending people down the hill after a little rider’s meeting. One of our first rider’s Lucas, who the night before called out the win, took his first run and things were started. Figuring that the early runs were going to get the mud off the track I took over timing at the bottom and let Jason get some runs in. Before the mud could be pushed off the trail it took its toll by sending people in the bushes and off the trail in several spot’s. With the jam format the trail started to get tacky and much faster.

Bryn Atkinson and Jill Kintner from Transition Bikes showed up and were among the favorites to win. As they took their first run, someone went done and slow’d them up enough to keep them out of the top spot for the time being. Trevor had been out practicing earlier in the week and was laying down some fast runs in his sport coat and long hair, keeping him near the top of the leader board. The Cow and Bee were just making laps and getting faster as the day went on.

Got to say think they put in at least 2 more laps then every body. To be young again. Allen Levine was putting in some stellar runs with some good times to go with them. Jason Gibb was back on the bike after some time off. He seemed to be taken it a bit easy but still putting down some good times. Also if he try’s getting you to pedal the sidehack at the bmx track, do it, it’s safe. Andy, your local used car dealer, got knocked out early with a blown tire then took a spill into a tree brake’n his collarbone. That ended the day for Andy hope you heel up soon.

The track was getting super tacky and was now looking like the fastest times of the day were about to start coming out. Lucas was able to pull out 6th place in the end. He also had a good run that didn’t get timed…he claimed might have took the win. 5th place went to Trevor L. with a solid run and flashy style. 4th went to the mountian man Keith Thompson with a smooth run. 3rd place went Jill Kintner after a solid fast run. I took 2nd with my first ever loss at the trail. 1st was Bryn A. with a smokin fast run and second faster than everyone.

After the racing had ended, the burger’s and hotdogs were hitting the grill and people were stoked. After walking up the trail and pulling all the tape down, we handed out the awards to the rider’s and best costume to Jason for the Evil Kanevil outfit. The main thing about the race was just having fun and riding bikes with friends. It was cool seeing everyone show up in costumes and take at least a  couple runs in them.  The competetiveness come out and the costumes came off. They all headed to a few more bars and the night got hazy. After getting back to the trailer around 2 in the morning the guys killed some waters and passed out. On Saturday morning they got up, made breakfast, and headed to the course for a course walk prior to practice. The course was wet in places and dusty in others making for a track that kept riders on their feet at all times. Practice ran from noon to 5 PM and by 4:30 the guys were wiped out. They headed back to the trailer to make some food and have a relaxing evening before the race. After dinner the guys went to watch the UFC fight at a bar. Lesnar got rocked.

It poured all night on Saturday, thoroughly soaking the course. The next morning they got up at 6 AM to get on the course early and get a good parking spot along the bottom of the course. After getting there Travis, Andy, and Trevor headed up the course with pro rider Kyle Thomas to do some last minute course maintenance. They built up the first set of woops, but they were a bit too big. Chris from Spokane was the first rider to test them out and they destroyed him, so the guys knocked them down a bit and they ran good from then on. After walking back down the course, sliding in mud the whole way, everyone suited up to practice. Practice ran from 8 to noon Sunday morning and throughout the morning the course dried out, but prior to the race start the skies opened up and drenched the course once again.

Any riders who had been practicing with spikes on had the upper hand for their race run. The course was super muddy and slick making for an amazing course and west side riders had the definite advantage for this race. Jerry Southworth headed down the course first of the team riders and put down a solid 1^st place run with a time of 3:09.63 in Cat 1 40+. Andrew was next to drop in to the course and near the finish he tackled a tree with his head, but still ended up in 4^th place with a time 3:20.34 in Cat 1 30-39. Right after Andy dropped in Travis was on course for a fairly clean run with one hiccup, but pulled out 1^st place with a time of 2:42.05 in Cat 1 30-39. Trevor was the last of the riders to head down the course and had a clean run pulling of a 2^nd place finish in Cat 1 19-29 with a 2:32.34. While on the podium both Travis and Trevor took showers in Rainier beer.

This race was the series finals for the All Gravity Series, so after the race awards the series awards followed. Jerry took first in Cat 1 40+ for the series. Andy and Travis were 4^th and 3^rd for the series in Cat 1 30-39, respectively. Trevor ended up 4^th overall in Cat 1 19-29. All in all, the weekend was a great end to the race season and all the riders enjoyed themselves. The team will continue to ride through the winter and train for next season. See ya next season!

So woke up at 5am on Saturday to go pick up Travis Erickson and head to Dry Hill in Port Angele’s, Washington.

We arrived to PA at 9 am and Travis began to practice. As I hiked the mountain to find decent spots to shoot at, I walked some of the side trails. Wow, the other trails I saw were amazing and looked like so much fun to ride. So back to the racing, I ran into Travis mid course after one of the Keifer guys had broken his collar bone on a tree that stuck out into the course. Travis had also blown up from this same tree, and some others.  All in all people were looking fast on this dry dusty course,really fast. After watching the pros some time later in the day, I decided where I would shoot Sunday.  After practice we headed to the Elwha river to cool off and then set up camp.  After the river we set up camp at the  Elwha River RV Park (www.elwhadamrvpark.com). What a cool place to camp, the owners were very nice and hospitable. The camp sites were nice and clean, even had a commons type outdoor kitchen/ BBQ pit. After setting up we headed back to Dry Hill for the Spaghetti feast! Casey, Scott and all the others that put on a race also feed us. Free food and lots of it, thank you guys again for that! So finally it was time to go get some rest, every one was beat from getting up early and riding all day. Around dusk our group headed to the fire pit, for more beers and laughs. What a fun night 20 or so people makes for a good fire. Around 1230 it was finally silent in the campgrounds.  Woke about 7am got some coffee and headed back to dry hill.  Everyone got ONE practice run today, apparently some people like to poach and get in more then the competitions’ practice amount.  The racing was over about 2:30 and I am pretty sure I got a shot of every single rider. All in all a great weekend and another great race put on by the NW cup!

Since everything was so much fun up until then why not fire up the BBQ throw on some dogs and play some Huffy Toss.  Norm and Jake were the test pilots.  Norm had a good launch but nobody expected the NASA commander Jake Hopple was in the house.  He hauled ass into the jump and sent that bike into orbit.  Just check out Coltons face in the background.  Not only is he looking at the bike but the expression is priceless.
