Norco Slopestyle Bike….NOT the Empire 5

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

The Norco Empire 5 is my favorite bike.  It is not only my favorite bike it is my favorite for the past 5 years or so.  Thats why it saddened me when they pulled it from the line in 2012.  But alas my friend…look out to the horizon and there is hope.  Sneak peak of their NEW Slopestyle bike.

Interbike Day #2

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011

More tired feet…..Tons of parts to look at.  It all turns into one big blur.  We did see some Lamborghini and Ferraris in Vegas.  That is not unusual but the ones we saw were!  Also some other high end bikes were the Carbon Intense and Norco rigs. E Thirteen / The Hive is starting to do pedals, cranks, and who knows what else.

Val Kleitz has made a mark

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

This week the NW has lost one of its most original and dedicated bike guru’s. Val Kleitz was a bicycle lover who would rather spend an hour fixing something on your bike that 5 minutes throwing on a new part. He could make your bike sing and your pedals zing. He had a shop for years on 45th near Wallingford called Bikesmith. I knew him after that shop while he worked for S.B.S. and Aaron’s. He would ride his near 100lb Xtracycle from Renton to Kent during the weekdays and West Seattle on Sundays to help out at Aaron’s. You might have noticed him with his Indiana Jones hat, buccaneer boots, gauntlet gloves and Rollie Fingers mustache. He taught me plenty about bikes and life. Unfortunately he passed away this last Wednesday after fighting cancer for almost two years. He will be missed by the bicycle world and here at g.h.y bikes. I hope he is riding the most amazing rides and has his happy smile….I can imagine nothing less.

This year has been a great one with our DH Team, Freeride guys, and the OG BMX Team. This next year we will be going old school with a shop BMX team. Heading up this project is our good friend David Bauder. Here is a Jersey that Brad Moore from Hutch/Sign Dog fame designed for us!

DMR SuperMoto Tires back in stock

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

These are sweet skin walled tires that remind me of the 80′s. I put a pair aside for myself. I know that the boys at the Jungle Trails love these tires. Check em.

Transition bike testing

Friday, July 8th, 2011

Transition held their yearly dealer days in Whistler this year! They were dumb enough to invite us back. We had a blast riding and testing the new TR250, Bandit and 29er. They are offering some great bikes and we are lucky enough o carry them. We just got a BRAND NEW Bandit in stock also. This kid learned flips into the foam and was soooo stoked.

GT is bringing it old school

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

What!? A 26″ Interceptor and Performer?!. These bikes are pretty cool to me and the boys from the Cascade Vista. We rode GT’s back in the day when these were the bikes to have! Love that they are bringing these back in a 26″ version. Time to hop some curbs for sure.
