The Gallon Challenge

Monday, September 24th, 2007

MilkReady Set GO!The local BMX kids are always asking for free stuff.  So in our infinite wisdom we thought we would hold an impossible contest.   This would atleast give them hope of some free swag.  We put up for the winner a apir of S&M Grand Slam BMX Bars.  The contest is this…Drink a gallon of whole milk in one hour without throwing up.  We had four kids up to the challenge…Bill, Tyler, Burn-E, & Cody.  Tyler started off at a Tyler Puke on Handgood pace and at 15 minutes was more than half of the way done.  Bill was a close second and the other two were pacing themselves.  Cody was the first out, having to go eat dinner…I think because he lost his lunch just outside the door in the gutter.  Then the quick pace Last Pullthat Tyler had going caught up to him.  He started turning colors and eventually puked all over himself and the garbage can.  Now there were two.  Bill was doing the best and at 10 minutes left looked as though he would finish.  But the dreaded cottage cheese gut started to take effect.  Burn-E just Bill Unloadsstarted to lay on the sidewalk and pushed his milk away.  We convinced Bill in the last minute that he should try to chug the remainder of his warm milk.  That lasted about ten seconds and up came a display that not too many people can believe.  He spewed for atleast 5 seconds straight…I would describe it as a fountain of gross.  Each contender came away with a little swag, but the bars remained hanging on the wall.

Atomlab Custom Hardtails

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

Instead of having just another hardtail from company blah.  We decided to pick some of our favorite parts G.I. completeand outfit them on a couple of Atomlab frames.  The General Issue frame is built with traditional style and some g.h.y. flair.  We picked the simple White vs. Black theme, without going too out there and finding every white part known to man.  Make sure to see the ghost ring chain tensioner (great way for a frame with verticle drop-outs).  I saw that work on some messenger bikes in 2003 (Messenger Worlds in Seattle).

After that bike we built up a sick park bike.  The Trail Pimp frame has a set of MTX rims built with a KHE Trail Pimp complete by g.h.y. bikesfreecoaster out back.  I personally have one of these hubs and they are so fun.  We did a Rasta pattern on with the spoke nipples and also pimped out the Atomlab pedals with some red ano.  This one is fully rigid and has some definate BMX influence thanks to Scott (our new mechanic and local ripper).  A picture is worth a thousand words.  Well heres 6000 words. . . . . . . . G.I. Small Rider Owned Companies

Friday, September 14th, 2007

Vegas ResistanceMountain bike companies are just now hitting the second generation.  The kids that grew up riding real ATB bikes are now the age to make a difference on our sport.  It is much like the BMX companies that are mostly rider owned.  As these small companies grow, there creative sides tend to show through.  Interbike is coming in about a week and the cost to have a booth inside can be crippling for a new company.  Some people would rather spend there money in advertising and some have found a loophole to the whole deal.  Transition bikes did it last year and now they are adding a couple more rider owned companies to the list.  They have an offsite condo that houses there own splinterbike.  They have carved a piece for themselves off of the interbike log.  This unfortunately is by appointment only.  Deity has joined, along with Canfield Bros., RockGardn, and Spectrum Clothing.  All these guys will be showing there products in a relaxed environment with refreshments easily accessable.  Just a glimpse at what rider owned companies can and will do to make things fun.

Note:  The NEW Blindside from Transition is now available.  Just call to book your order now. g.h.y. bikes………800-979-HUCK

New Rims in Stock

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

Sun RimsCheck out these new rims that are available through G.H.Y. Bikes.  The Pink Camo rims will NOT last long so order them up.  I started running some of the polished MTX’s laced to gold hubs with gold nipples.  Been running super true even with tons of 180’s to use my new KHE freecoaster.  Check the story below for a visual on what those hubs will allow you to accomplish.  More rims available and in stock, just call.

Our wheel building skills are top notch.  We have two wheel builders in house, both with hundreds of wheels built.  When you buy Hubs, Rims, and Spokes from Go Huck Yourself.com / G.H.Y. Bikes the build is free and you recieve liftime trues to that wheel (M.S.R.P. prices apply).

Phil Sundbaum Goes to Europe

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Atomlab Wheels in WhitePhil has been envited to a minimum of three events across the pond in Europe (Qashqai)Atomlab just hooked him up with some sweet new hoops with white spokes.  I hand built them with their red nipples and as you can see, they are super stylin.  Phil is leaving Sunday after Supercross to head down to Portland.  There he will meet up with Lutze from Matchvideozine and take a flight next week.  We are all super stoked to see him throw down in some major comps.  He is going to meet up with Rob Rebholz and cruise europe with him also.  I am jealous.
