It sounds pretty awesome too. As for g.h.y. bikes wheelbuilding…buy all the parts from us and get the build for free and lifetime trues.

Team riders Andrew Knott, Jerry Southworth, Travis Erickson and Trevor Louviere left for Moscow, ID. Eastbound and down, Friday afternoon, last race of the All Gravity Series. They left the west side of the mountains around to 2 in the afternoon and ended up in Moscow around 6:30 that evening. After getting into town and dropping off the trailer at the fairgrounds the guys headed out to find some food. While at dinner Jerry, a Cat 1 40+ rider, was carded for alcohol and his wallet had been stolen earlier that week so they wouldn’t serve him. It made for a good laugh before the guys headed to the bars for a night out on the town. The guys were told to go to CJ’s for a good time by one of the locals…so they headed that direction. After getting to the bar and having a few drinks they met up with Chris and Nick from Spokane. And those two know how to have a good time, especially in the basement of bars (inside joke).

They all headed to a few more bars and the night got hazy. After getting back to the trailer around 2 in the morning the guys killed some waters and passed out. On Saturday morning they got up, made breakfast, and headed to the course for a course walk prior to practice. The course was wet in places and dusty in others making for a track that kept riders on their feet at all times. Practice ran from noon to 5 PM and by 4:30 the guys were wiped out. They headed back to the trailer to make some food and have a relaxing evening before the race. After dinner the guys went to watch the UFC fight at a bar. Lesnar got rocked.

It poured all night on Saturday, thoroughly soaking the course. The next morning they got up at 6 AM to get on the course early and get a good parking spot along the bottom of the course. After getting there Travis, Andy, and Trevor headed up the course with pro rider Kyle Thomas to do some last minute course maintenance. They built up the first set of woops, but they were a bit too big. Chris from Spokane was the first rider to test them out and they destroyed him, so the guys knocked them down a bit and they ran good from then on. After walking back down the course, sliding in mud the whole way, everyone suited up to practice. Practice ran from 8 to noon Sunday morning and throughout the morning the course dried out, but prior to the race start the skies opened up and drenched the course once again.

Any riders who had been practicing with spikes on had the upper hand for their race run. The course was super muddy and slick making for an amazing course and west side riders had the definite advantage for this race. Jerry Southworth headed down the course first of the team riders and put down a solid 1st place run with a time of 3:09.63 in Cat 1 40+. Andrew was next to drop in to the course and near the finish he tackled a tree with his head, but still ended up in 4th place with a time 3:20.34 in Cat 1 30-39. Right after Andy dropped in Travis was on course for a fairly clean run with one hiccup, but pulled out 1st place with a time of 2:42.05 in Cat 1 30-39. Trevor was the last of the riders to head down the course and had a clean run pulling of a 2nd place finish in Cat 1 19-29 with a 2:32.34. While on the podium both Travis and Trevor took showers in Rainier beer.

This race was the series finals for the All Gravity Series, so after the race awards the series awards followed. Jerry took first in Cat 1 40+ for the series. Andy and Travis were 4th and 3rd for the series in Cat 1 30-39, respectively. Trevor ended up 4th overall in Cat 1 19-29. All in all, the weekend was a great end to the race season and all the riders enjoyed themselves. The team will continue to ride through the winter and train for next season. See ya next season!

The heart and soul of North American mountain biking is right here, the area roughly from Seattle to Whistler, and spoke rockets made by a little Ferndale company called Transition are the latest rage. It was started by two local hard-core riders, and the niche they seem to have hit is for a bike that’s bombproof on the downhill but forgiving enough to rip the cross-country. “We design bikes for what we like to ride, so they’re definitely tailored to this environment. They’re definitely good Northwest bikes,” says Kevin Menard, one of those two dudes. This ride will bomb the A-line at Whistler, but is agile enough to throw sick tricks on Galbraith Mountain. The Bottle Rocket is for aggressive riders; newbies and those who just want a good trail bike should consider the lighter and more nimble Covert. With a Transition, you buy the frame and then pick the forks and gearing specific to your style, or chose one of three kits. These bikes aren’t cheap, running $2,800-$3,800. See them at Fluidride here in Seattle, GHY Bikes in Renton, too. transitionbikes.com

First off I was happy to try out some new cranks, my old ones were creaking.

Likes

They look very well made and have good looking welds.

They never come loose.

Even after tons of pedal and crank arm grinds there is no signs of cracks or dents.

Any flex is not noticable.

They don’t make noise.

Plus they look really good.

Disikes

The arms are a very tight fit on the spindle and make them a little bit harder to get back off.

Thanks to Wilson for the review and testing. Also thanks to FSA for the great crank design!!

Here are some of the things that I think are worth taking a look. First off lets start with the hardtail I am trying to ride this year. It is an Eastern…from BMX fame. So the short back end will be easy to manual and perfect for any street/park situation. HINT: take a look at the headtube.

Next on the list is the bigger bikes. The two companies that I am putting my stamp on are NORCO and TRANSITION. Both these brands have progressed their designs and come in at a great price. The thing I saw in the majority of booths were normal bikes outfitted with tons of high end parts and colorful components. The price would also match the bling factor. But not with these two brands. Price and good looks. The Norcos are super sweet this year with a whole new look to them. Lower center of gravity, great components, Maxles, and the horst link. The Shore 2 (green bike) hits a great price at $2839 and the Shore 1 with a custom painted totem goes for $4179. The other bikes in the line should be looked at also…especially the Six series.

The new Transitions this year are the Siren and the Blindside. The Siren is a womens model that can take the punishment just like all of there bikes. They found out that the Northwest girls are throwin down and need a bike with a womens geometry. So they put this beauty out. Plus if you like a tighter bike and came from BMX this might work for you too. Then they dropped their downhill rig and redesigned a new one. The Blindside. A rig that can downhill, rail corners, hit the chutes and throw some style on top.

Now for my awards and bike porn…Scariest bike, Sexy new DH Corsair, Ugliest DH, Sweet Fixie, Cool Fork, Old School BMX, Welding, Old Style but NEW, Brooks, Amsterdam, and Phil.
