Duthie hill is so fun…but be careful
Sunday, August 28th, 2011If anyone can identify this man please let him know that he just won a Go Huck Yourself T-shirt if he comes into the shop. This guy takes it down. Does the bike have to retaliate?

Jack and Jill went down the hill then out of nowhere Johnny came onto the scene.
Team Robot is down to party. Charlie has been rippin the trails and is always an interesting cat. I remember a Go Huck Yourself Jam where he wore a full on sweater. He might have had some 24″ Tuff Wheels too. Crazy kids.
Well the last post was kind of a downer…so we must rebound with a funny one. Lake jumping can be fun or painful but this one is painfully funny.
This week the NW has lost one of its most original and dedicated bike guru’s. Val Kleitz was a bicycle lover who would rather spend an hour fixing something on your bike that 5 minutes throwing on a new part. He could make your bike sing and your pedals zing. He had a shop for years on 45th near Wallingford called Bikesmith. I knew him after that shop while he worked for S.B.S. and Aaron’s. He would ride his near 100lb Xtracycle from Renton to Kent during the weekdays and West Seattle on Sundays to help out at Aaron’s. You might have noticed him with his Indiana Jones hat, buccaneer boots, gauntlet gloves and Rollie Fingers mustache. He taught me plenty about bikes and life. Unfortunately he passed away this last Wednesday after fighting cancer for almost two years. He will be missed by the bicycle world and here at g.h.y bikes. I hope he is riding the most amazing rides and has his happy smile….I can imagine nothing less.
One of our best up and comers with tons of energy. He rips and keeps pushing his limits to get better. As a Duthie local he should have no problem moving up the ranks. Watch out for this guy.
This year has been a great one with our DH Team, Freeride guys, and the OG BMX Team. This next year we will be going old school with a shop BMX team. Heading up this project is our good friend David Bauder. Here is a Jersey that Brad Moore from Hutch/Sign Dog fame designed for us!
These are sweet skin walled tires that remind me of the 80′s. I put a pair aside for myself. I know that the boys at the Jungle Trails love these tires. Check em.
Back in the day we would build these and have tons of fun dragging these things behind our bikes. Check this video thanks to Bubba Bond and Sons. It gets better when you can see the nails spark or if your near some puddles to drag them through.
So this race is definitely one of the best spectacles on earth. The list of crazy things are as follows…Race, Beer, Jousting (on double decker bikes), BMX jumping, bands playing, fire, pedals powered rides, burlesque bike riders and I am sure I forgot something. So the shop will close at 5:00 on Friday the 5th of August.
