Post Office Table

I headed down to California on March 20th to do a bit of dirt jumping and hang out with a few old friends who still ride. I got there on Friday afternoon and threw my bike together. We headed out to a local bmx track and messed around with some gate starts and some long doubles. It was a nice mellow start to the trip.

We got up the next morning and headed to a spot called Tea cups. It was a local spot with nothing too big but a lot of smaller doubles that were great for throwing small tricks over. When we arrived there were some local kids and it made the session super fun. Everyone was feeding off each others energy and it made for a good little session. Sunday was a bit rainy so we didn’t get to ride until just before dark.

We headed to a place called Calabasas. It was a park in San Jose which the city had built a bike park in for people of all ages to ride. The park had a section of dirt spines which were a bit tricky at first but once you figured them out you could start transferring and the session got really fun. Monday was the day id been looking forward to the whole trip. We got up early and headed to Watsonville, which is just south of Santa Cruz. The spot was right along a creek and there were tons of lines going every which way. The set was a little beat up but still ran fine. The jumps weren’t the best for tricking because they were mostly longer jumps and you had to make sure to maintain speed through the set.

Our next stop that day was the Post Office trails on Aptos. It had been a few years since id been there so the place was a little different but the jumps still ran great. The jumps there nice and steep and gave you so much hang time. We rode there for a few hours until about sun down. It was one of the sickest days of riding trails in a long time. If you ever get the chance to ride the Post Office trails make sure you do. There by far my favorite trails I’ve ever ridden.

On Tuesday we headed back to Tea Cups for a mellow session. We spent most of our time there messing around on a dirt quarter. It was the only dirt quarter I’ve ridden which rode like a true quarter. One Wednesday morning I flew back to Seattle. Overall the trip was super sick and I can’t wait to go back. Next time I’m down there I’ll for sure be riding post office a bit more.
