Research for building frames

Monday, October 27th, 2008

So Dustin, one of our employees has a complete machine shop at his house.  I went to school to aquire an engineering degree and have been addicted to bikes for a long time.  He is an eclectic madman with the skills in the metal department.  I have the mathmatics to make sure the bikes are strong.  That combination pushed g.h.y. bikes into buying an anvil frame jig and we are going to be producing frames within the next year.  As I started to do research on all of the geometries and what not I found this picture.

This is hilarious!!!

We are not going to be producing bikes like this….but you never know??  HaHaHa.

Interbike 2008

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

This year we went down to Vegas again and it was an interesting show.  I thought that there would be a clear change in focus to commuter style bikes.  The focus was jsut the same as the previous years.  Am I getting bored with Interbike and the tons of product shoved in your face?  Maybe but I did pick out a few gems with help from Drew our resident super nerd.  I thought that the Turner was one of my favorite things about the show.  There was also the New World Disorder premier in Vegas that was super high in the Palms.  By the way we will be premiering that flick in a couple of weeks Oct. 24th.  Details to come later.  Look at all of the pics on the next page!!!

…and the beers/bikes/cross promotional marketing she has created!

Jesse was chomping at the bit to build up his new traitor ringleader.  This is probably the most patriotic bike I have ever seen.  It is vomitting america, but in a good way.

SRAM or Schlumpf

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

I was talking to my friend Val Kleitz from Seattle Bike Supply. He told me about another company that had made something quite similar to the HammerSchmidt.  These guys have been doing this atleast since 2003.  Thats as far as Wayback Machine would let me go.  It is a Swiss company, no suprise with their fine precision watches and sneaky bank accounts.  Check out Schlumpf for something different.  ALso this link to the big yellow site shows how it is shifted with your foot (scroll down).
