Transition Bottle Rocket

  bike

The heart and soul of North American mountain biking is right here, the area roughly from Seattle to Whistler, and spoke rockets made by a little Ferndale company called Transition are the latest rage. It was started by two local hard-core riders, and the niche they seem to have hit is for a bike that’s bombproof on the downhill but forgiving enough to rip the cross-country. “We design bikes for what we like to ride, so they’re definitely tailored to this environment. They’re definitely good Northwest bikes,” says Kevin Menard, one of those two dudes. This ride will bomb the A-line at Whistler, but is agile enough to throw sick tricks on Galbraith Mountain. The Bottle Rocket is for aggressive riders; newbies and those who just want a good trail bike should consider the lighter and more nimble Covert. With a Transition, you buy the frame and then pick the forks and gearing specific to your style, or chose one of three kits. These bikes aren’t cheap, running $2,800-$3,800. See them at Fluidride here in Seattle, GHY Bikes in Renton, too. transitionbikes.com

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

Norco Six ShoreWe get stuff in all of the time, but these products should be seen by everyone. First is the 2008 Norco’s. The Six series and the Shore series have a sweet new look. The have a pattern on the paint, the color choices are cool and the frame design is updated. They lowered the center of gravity by moving the shock down on the bike and changed up the top tube/seat mast.  They are all outfitted with great part specs and some good price points, from $1399 for the B-Line up to $4299 for the Shore 1.

Gold ODI RuffiansNext up are some limited edition grips from ODI in stylish gold.  They still feel just like the black ones but are way cooler.  Check them out in our store or online.  Not only are the gold ones in stock but we also received in brown rogues and red ruffian mx grips.  Now style out your whip and make your friends jealous.

Mad March Racing Announces Urban Freeride camp at Ray’s Indoor Bike Park. CLEVELAND, OH – Though the weather outside is frightful, on January 11th Ray’s Indoor Park in Cleveland, OH will be more than delightful! Shaums and the MMR crew of coaches will hold a one-day “closed session” of Freeride Skills. “ I have been to Rays twice over the past couple years and each time I see the park continually growing and getting more fun to ride.” MMR owner and founder, Shaums March, continues, “after discussing ideas with Ray, I instantly saw the potential for them to host Urban Freeride clinics. Riding outside this time of year is tough, but there is still a demand to ride and learn!”

Wheelchair Donation Drive

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Wheelchair LawnchairTwenty seven years ago the sight of a crippled Moroccan woman crawling across a dirt road planted a seed with Don Schoendorfer, founder of Free Wheelchair Mission.  In 1999 he invested his education and professional expertise as a PhD Mechanical Engineer to create a simple, rugged, and inexpensive wheelchair. The mental picture of the crawling woman’s anguish and loss of dignity had haunted him for years.

The middle school that I attended in Renton was Nelson Middle School.  They got involved with raising money for this cause through a teacher who is in Ghana for a year teaching.  The fact is that one out of ten people in Ghana are disabled and most are in need of wheelchairs, thats 10%.  So Nelson’s students are raising money and also having the Founder and CEO of Free Wheelchair Mission speak at there school.  This will be on Monday, December 10th,  6-8PM.  If you cant make it there to listen and donate you can donate online by going to Nelson’s link just above.  That wheelchair you see there costs less thatn $50 to build and ship, so make a difference today and donate!!

Just found this one!!!
