Wham Bam Thank You Jam

Monday, March 12th, 2007

Travis “Crappis” EricksonAs Monday morning came we loaded up the cars with bikes, gear, and people we made our way toward Portland. We had hooked up with the NSMB.com boys the day before and rode skatebarn and took some runs around the BMX track. They met us on the road in Olympia and we continued on our way.

After almost four hours of driving we arrived at Hindsight MX track just west of Portland- the venue for the contest. This place was big and construction of the jumps was under way. The course started in the second level of the arena which had a roll-in to a 2’ lip with a 17’ gap and 5’ drop in to 8’ landing. After you landed you went straight over a small roller then hit a good sized six pac of jumps that ended in a smaller step. Then you took a couple pedals into a curved wall ride into landing then a step up onto the GI Joes van with a small drop off the end. So now that the course was laid out it was time to get some practice after getting some lunch.

Lars podiums at Chile

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

Our Homie Lars went down to Chile for a race and had the time of his life. Him and his chronies from Fluidride went down south for the second year and here is what he has to say about it.

Corner ChileLars here.

I just returned from Chile and holy smokes what a trip! 12 days of full on DH, racing, and 12,000ft shuttle runs. The trip commenced in Valparasio Chile, which is a port town established in the 1,500′s. The event was an Urban DH Chilean style. Called the Valparasio Cerro Abajo the course earned it’s name. The top of the course started at a 5 way intersection high up on the hillside of the southwestern part of the city. The course wound it’s way down the city streets incorporating natural transitions for road gaps, stair sets, dirt alleyways, pedestrian Sick Chile Dropwalkways, drops, and rain drainage gutters.

There were 62 professional riders invited representing 10 countries. This rider list combined with thousands of screaming spectators, and stray dogs made for and electric event. The Qualifying runs were held Sunday morning after every competetior completed UCI accredation and recieved their numbers.
